Huiyuan memorial archway

Remains of Huiyuan memorial archway is located in the south of Zhenhe Hall. In the eighth year of Emperor Jiajing’s reign in the Ming dynasty (1529), Tang Jingchuan went to Beijing to attend metropolitan examination and won the first place. Later he participated in the final imperial examination presided over by the emperor and ranked as “Chuanlu” (the first place of the second level in the final imperial examination). The stone memorial archway was erected by the royal court to praise his achievements. Nowadays only one yellow granite stone pillar remains.
