The former residence of Shi Liang was built in the late Qing dynasty. The architecture features the idea of “western culture in Chinese style”, which was typical in the late Qing dynasty and the early Republic of China. Shi Liang (1900-1985) was one of the patriotic “Seven Gentlemen” of the Association for National Salvation. Shi Liang had held the posts of the first minister of the Ministry of Justice, vice-chairwoman of the standing committee of the National People's Congress, and Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Democratic League.
